What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Administrative Support professional to join our team. This role plays a critical part in managing classified mail channels and providing essential administrative support to the Classified Matter Protection & Control (CMPC) team.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for classified mail channels across all Sandia sites.
  • Coordinate with SNL, external security POCs, and federal agencies (DOE, NNSA, OST).
  • Manage the full lifecycle of the Classified Mail Channel (CMC) program, including requests, channel setup, maintenance, and SOP improvements.
  • Maintain and update critical security databases ensuring data integrity.
  • Review, validate, and submit required federal forms; ensure compliance with security policies.
  • Provide timely troubleshooting and support for classified mail communications internally and with external partners.
  • Collect and analyze operational metrics; prepare performance and compliance reports for leadership.
  • Support CMPC team with supply requests, audit activities, and training administration, including material prep and tracking completions in the corporate training system.

Salary Range:

$48,500 - $89,000

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • High school diploma plus five (5) or more years of directly related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three (3) years of customer service-related experience.
  • Experience working with, and implementing federal government regulations.
  • Ability to work with controlled unclassified and classified information.
  • Active DOE Q security clearance or equivalent federal clearance.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Experience engaging with diverse community of customers by verbal and written correspondence.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate dense, complex federal regulations, security directives and technical processes into clear actionable guidance for diverse stakeholders- ranging from laboratory personnel to external federal and contractor facility POCs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with other team members, but also independently (with minimal supervision) in a fast paced, dynamic environment while meeting evolving deadlines and deliverables.
  • Excellent computer skills to include experience with MS Office, using various database/applications, and responding to customers encountering issues using applications/databases.
  • Experience in one or more DOE/NNSA security sub-topical area (e.g., Information Security, Personnel Security, Physical Security, Incidents of Security Concern, Security Awareness, Technical Security, Security Assurance).
  • Familiarity with DOE/NNSA Directives/Orders, SNL Corporate Policies, and SNL corporate administrative systems (e.g., training platform, corporate forms).

About Our Team:

The Classified Matter Protection & Control (CMPC), Operations Security (OPSEC) and Insider Threat teams are the primary points of contact to implement DOE O 471.6, Information Security, NNSA Supplemental Directive 417.6, Operations Security Program and DOE O 470.5, Insider Threat Program. These teams collaborate with both federal and SNL points of contact to effectively establish policy, deploy training/briefings, and lead/support assurance related activities to ensure successful implementation of their respected program requirements.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.
