We are hiring Full-Time experienced Registered Nurses, New Graduate Nurses, Weekender RNs and Assistant Nurse Managers (ANMs) across varying shifts for opportunities within Cleveland Clinic’s world-renowned Neurological Institute. Neuro Pre- and Post-Operating Room (Neuro Perioperative Services) is a newly established department designed to provide exceptional care for adult patients before and after neurological procedures. Combining Pre-Operative and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) services, this innovative team creates a seamless patient experience throughout the surgical journey while offering caregivers the opportunity to help shape the future of the department.

With a highly engaged leadership team, shared governance model and strong focus on professional growth, caregivers have the opportunity to make an immediate impact, contribute ideas and help establish best practices within a growing specialty area. Nurses in this department play a critical role in delivering compassionate, evidence-based care while supporting patients and families during some of their most important moments.

As part of the Neuro Perioperative team, nurses care for a diverse neurological patient population with varying levels of acuity—from same-day surgical patients to those requiring inpatient recovery or transfer directly to the Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Team members receive specialized education and support to develop advanced skills needed to care for high-acuity neurological patients. Pediatric neurology patients are also supported within the department, with dedicated pediatric caregivers providing specialized care.

RN – PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) and Pre-Op Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients throughout the perioperative experience.
  • Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
  • Assess, document and communicate patient conditions and responses to care.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Carry out physician and nursing orders while ensuring safe, evidence-based care.
  • Assess and coordinate discharge needs.
  • Educate patients and families to support recovery and overall well-being.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program).
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
  • For critical care areas, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required upon hire or within the first year of employment.
  • New graduate RN ORone year of current acute care RN experience or military RN experience.

New Graduate RN Resident - PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) and Pre-Op :

Begin your nursing career in a supportive, specialized environment designed to help you succeed. Through a comprehensive residency program and dedicated mentorship, new graduate nurses gain the knowledge, confidence and experience needed to provide exceptional perioperative care.

  • Participate in a residency core curriculum based on surgery core learning needs.

  • Provide direct nursing care alongside asuccesscoach.

  • Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patientpreferenceand resource availability).

  • Respond to dataindicatingrisk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.

  • Seeksupervision,consultationandassistancewhen unable to perform safely and independently.

  • Documentinpatients’ medical records.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma, ADN, or BSN)

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

  • New graduate RN or less than one year of RN experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $35.50

Maximum hourly: $55.60

The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.).
