The Pharmacy Technician – Inpatient, PRN supports medication distribution and operational pharmacy services within one of Cleveland Clinic’s highest-volume inpatient pharmacies, located on the lower level of the H Building at Main Campus. This role provides exposure to a wide range of service lines, including general inpatient care, oncology, sterile products, operating room services, and pediatrics. Caregivers rotate through various pharmacy functions, gaining experience in medication delivery, carousel operations, triaging requests, answering phones, and managing medication-related communications to support caregivers throughout the hospital. The position involves significant interaction with multiple departments across Main Campus and requires extensive walking throughout the workday. Following successful training and demonstrated competency, caregivers may have opportunities to expand their experience into additional pharmacy practice areas, including IV services, ambulatory pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, home care, and other pharmacy departments based on organizational needs and availability.
A caregiver in this position will work a PRN schedule that includes one weekend every four weeks, consisting of both Saturday and Sunday shifts. Additional shifts may be scheduled based on departmental needs and caregiver availability.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Provide distributive pharmacy services,assistanceand support for the Registered Pharmacist.
- Refill andmaintainautomated dispensing systems.
- Fillmedicationscarts daily.
- Prepare orders andmaintaininventory for the pharmacy department.
- Repackage bulk medications.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma or GED.
Must meet all of the following license and certification combination requirements at the time of application:
- Must hold an active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP).

- It is required, within 18 months from the date of hire: Must obtain a national certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA)AND Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy
Preferred qualifications forthe ideal future caregiver include:
- Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician Training Program
- Six months of hospital experience
Physical Requirements:
- Typical physical demands include ability to perform functions of the job while reaching and stretching, and manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions of job.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $23.00
Maximum hourly: $23.00
