What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a Year-Round Laborer Union Undergraduate intern to join our dynamic team!

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Perform operations that support Reapplication and Bus Services
  • Dismantle, sanitize, and reconstruct computers, hard-drives, computing assets, laboratory equipment, and various computer peripherals
  • Operate a forklift to load and unload trucks and trailer
  • Collaborate with teammates to pick up and deliver excess and reutilized property
  • Organize all excess property and place the items on an approved disposition path
  • Work with all of Reapplication¿s customers and assist them with the services that Reapplication offers

If offered the position, you may be required to demonstrate your fitness to perform certain physical aspects of the position, including lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Qualifications We Require:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

  • Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5/4.0
  • Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship

Note: If you have not earned a HS diploma or equivalent, please apply to a high school intern position.

As a condition of employment, the selected candidate will be represented by the Metal Trades Council (MTC), which requires monthly membership dues or agency fees. The position may require the ability to pass a job placement assessment for performing essential job functions. New hires into an MTC represented position will remain in the initial position for six (6) months (twelve [12] months if a Tradesman) before being eligible to be considered for other Sandia employment.

Per the agreement between Sandia and the MTC, this position offers preferential consideration to applicants who can demonstrate that they are from economically disadvantaged families as defined by either federal or state agencies. About Our Team:

Logistics Operations (4760) supports Sandia and its customers by providing essential transportation and asset management services. Its core processes include receiving, moving, managing, and disposing of materials and property. Reapplication and Bus Service Department (4763-1) delivers mission-enabling services that strengthen supply chain effectiveness through systems designed to support property control, utilization, and disposition. Key activities include conducting physical inventories of sensitive items, equipment, and precious metals; supporting government furnished property under contract; generating return on investment for excess property through reapplication and trade-ins; creating cost avoidance by facilitating acquisition transfers from other federal agencies; providing destruction services; and performing high risk and export control reviews to uphold national nuclear nonproliferation objectives. The Reapplication team (4763-1) is responsible for the movement, identification, tagging, control, utilization, reapplication, and disposal of property.

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
