Job Description

Summary

The Department of Neurology is seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Associate. The Lloyd Lab at the Baylor College of Medicine studies the molecular underpinnings of neuromuscular diseases that includes Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease (CMT), and Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM). To do so, the lab utilizes fruit fly and human cellular models of disease to better understand the cellular mechanisms of these diseases and to find novel treatments.

Baylor College of Medicine typically follows similar to the NIH stipulated stipend guidelines for Postdoctoral Associates.

Job Duties

  • Plans, organizes, directs, and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments.
  • Evaluates and analyzes data.
  • Understands established research protocols and procedures.
  • Establishes new research protocols and procedures.
  • Analyzes and summarizes research findings for publication in research journals.
  • Works and responsible for laboratory operations.
  • Trains research staff.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using either iPS or fruit fly models, or in the neurogenerative disease field is a plus.
