Associate Staff Scientist

Department: Arthritis & Clinical Immuno
Location: Oklahoma City, OK
Position Overview and Responsibilities
The Scofield lab is hiring an Associate Staff Scientist to design and conduct research experiments; prepare reports presentations and manuscripts for publication; assists with grant writing; and oversee and/or manage research projects, summarize and present results, as well as guiding/leading graduate students, postdocs, and lab staff; may manage staff.
Responsibilities:
  • Apply principles and practices of scientific theory, research, and immunology
  • Formulate and test scientific hypotheses
  • Design and conduct research experiments
  • Analyze, interpret, and summarize data and experimental results
  • Prepare and write technical and scientific papers
  • Develop and write grant proposals
  • Communicate scientific concepts effectively in both oral and written formats
  • Mentor students and provide guidance to junior scientists
  • Direct and oversee the work of less experienced research staff

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in a biological science, chemistry, physics, or other relevant area, M.D., or equivalent
  • Three years of postdoctoral research experience
  • Familiarity with standard lab techniques

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with laboratory techniques, including but not limited to flow cytometry, RNA expression analysis, and CRISPR-Cas systems
  • Proficiency in analyzing large and complex datasets, including genome-wide association studies and RNA expression data
