Job Description
Primary Purpose of PositionThe primary responsibilities for this position include teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses, student orientation, student advising, student mentoring and recruitment, curriculum development, conducting scholarly activities, and all other activities. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, engaging in accreditation procedures, program assessment, managing online MS and PhD graduate programs, interacting and building relationships with companies, meeting prospective students and parents, and service to the department, College, and University as needed.
This is a 9-month non-tenure track faculty position to be hired at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor, Teaching Associate Professor, or Teaching Professor.

The College of Engineering, with over 2,800 students, has EAC ABET accredited undergraduate programs in Architectural, Bio-, Biological, Civil, Chemical, Computer, Electrical, Industrial, and Mechanical Engineering, as well as a CAC ABET-accredited program in Computer Science. On the Graduate level, the College has 8 Masters of Science Degree programs, and 5 Doctoral programs. The 5 research cluster areas of the College of Engineering (COE) are Autonomous Systems, Cybersecurity and Resilience, Energy and Sustainability, Healthcare Applications and Complex Systems and Networks. The Mechanical Engineering Department offers BS, MS and Ph.D. degrees. The department currently offers Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Doctor of Philosophy Degrees in Mechanical Engineering. In addition, the department offers a B.S. in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering. The ME undergraduate degree program has an Aerospace Option for students who are interested in aerodynamics, aero-propulsion, avionics and aero-structures. An Honors program is available for those students with a strong academic background and research interest. Our faculty members and their graduate students perform research in such areas as materials, aerospace, structural health monitoring, thermal management, micro-mechanics and micro-fluidics, CFD, control systems, design, robotics and manufacturing.
Minimum Requirements
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a closely related field (required).
Demonstrated teaching experience in the listed subject areas.
Strong commitment to student success and active learning.
Ability to contribute to ABET accreditation and curriculum development.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
The ideal candidates will have practical industry experience in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field, prior teaching experience at the university level, and experience with students advising/mentoring and managing recruitment events.
More than three semesters of undergraduate teaching experience in aerodynamics, propulsion, thermodynamics, and nuclear systems.
Familiarity with modern engineering tools and hands-on laboratory instruction.
