The successful candidate:
Job Overview
Operates all routine Nuclear Medicine and Positron Emission Tomography equipment in a safe and proficient manner. Abides by and enforces all JCAHO, federal, state and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols and policies and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization's values. Under the direction of a Nuclear Medicine physician, performs high quality radionuclide imaging and non-imaging studies, including the administration of radiopharmaceuticals, the operation of instruments, the application of various imaging techniques and the positioning of patients to present the maximum amount of diagnostic information. Handles multiple room assignments and all different types of exams on a daily basis. Participates in performance improvement initiatives and assists with other activities as deemed necessary for the day-to-day operation of the department. Position may require cross training in additional modalities as directed by the Director of Radiation/Imaging Services. Shares responsibility for the maintenance of efficient scheduling, patient flow and quality assurance, as well as awareness of fiscal soundness within the division.
Education/Experience Level
High School graduate or equivalent
Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic Technology training in an AMA approved school and registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Nuclear Medicine,
ARRT (N), or a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT),
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
Two years' experience after graduation in a major hospital setting required
Knowledge and Skills
Cardiac, Oncology Imaging and basic computer skills
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to patient and family rights, as identified within the hospital
Maintains radiation safety methods (ALARA, As Low As Reasonable Achievable) to self, co-workers, patients and the general public in accordance with prescribed safety standard set by the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ)
Working knowledge of eluting radionuclide generator systems and ordering of radiopharmaceuticals
Ability to work without supervision
Demonstrates awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and unit function and strives to manage situations in a reduced risk manner
Demonstrates and monitors careful, efficient, and non-wasteful use of supplies and follows
established charge procedures to provide patient care in a timely, cost-effective and cost-efficient manner
Requires initiative, the ability to make independent judgments and a positive attitude
Excellent communication skills

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $34.17 - $56.29 / hour
The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
