Job SummaryBASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY
Assist the surgical team in the performance of operating procedures and to select instruments and supplies for surgical procedures.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
General supervision is received from Nurse Manager or other designated official.

Responsibilities*
Assist the surgical team during operating procedures by passing instruments, sponges and sutures to surgeons and surgical assistants.
Select and layout instruments for operating procedures.
Prepare sterile supplies for operating procedures.
Prepare surgical trays for operating procedures.
Assist in the preparation of patients for surgery.
Move patients after completion of surgery for transfer to Recovery area.
Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications*
Graduation from high school or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Completion of an accredited or military Surgical Technologist program.
Physical Requirements
This position requires moderate standing/walking, as well as lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring of patients.
Desired Qualifications*
Some experience as a Surgical Technologist.
Certification from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
