Job Description
Responsibilities*Provide data security for the center. This involves actively securing data and verifying data has been properly secured. Implementing and auditing policies and procedures to verify that data is properly secured. Writing and updating policies, procedures, and documentation in relation to information security. Maintaining compliance with FISMA Moderate security requirements. Coordinating and completing security and compliance assessments.
Supervise IT staff. Provide direct supervision and mentoring to all IT staff for the center. Lead team and individual meetings with IT staff. Provide annual review and assistance with annual goals.
Maintain compliance and training for center. In order to maintain compliance for FISMA Moderate annual training and compliance records of those trainings are required.
Provide project management for IT initiatives. Coordinate and prepare all projects to be completed on time for the center. Make sure that deliverables are being met and center runs smoothly during projects.
Coordinate strategic planning for IT group with Director of IT and the Management Team. Make sure that strategic goals are aligned with needs of the center and that the center stays current with technology, policy, and security.
Create a budget and provide annual fiscal planning. Work with business operations to create and maintain an annual budget that the university has approved.
Purchase and quote all hardware and software for the center. Purchase all required IT hardware and software for the center. Use PCard to purchase and maintain expense reports.
Provide backup coverage for IT department. Fill any needed role for IT department when other staff are unavailable.
Required Qualifications*
Bachelor's degree.
Eight (8) or more years of professional IT experience including:
Four or more years of experience in IT security role.
Four or more years of experience in Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model.
Two or more years of experience in IT project management.
Professional experience working in a research or education setting.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team or individually while meeting deadlines in a multi-tasking environment.
Desired Qualifications*
Ten or more years working in IT in a research or education setting.
Five or more years of experience in IT security role.
Experience in FISMA Moderate setting and obtaining ATO's from government organizations.
Familiarity or experience with Lean management principles.
One or more years in leadership and management role.
Experience creating and managing a budget.
IT Professional certification such as CISSP
