Job Description
Job DescriptionAn employee in this class assists the Minnesota State University, Mankato Dental Hygiene Program, Advanced Dental Therapy Program, and the South Central College Dental Assisting Program in the daily dental clinic operations including front desk and administrative duties, dental equipment repairs, clinic maintenance, monitoring and ordering of clinical supplies, and other clinical tasks. Other duties would include acting as the dental radiation safety officer, updating the infection control manual, coordinating special events related to the dental clinic, updating the dental clinic website, and assisting faculty with day-to-day dental clinic operations.
Salary Range: $24.05 - $30.98 / hourly
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of common oral hygiene techniques; and standard dental equipment and methods.
Ability to operate x-ray equipment; chart mouths and teeth; keep records and maintain files; control patients; sterilize instruments and equipment; and assist in a dental laboratory.
Registration as a Dental Assistant with the Minnesota State Board of Dentistry.
Preferred Qualification
Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
Current CPR certification.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a dental office.
Knowledge of dental clinic/lab equipment maintenance.
Ability to effectively communicate with staff, students, patients, and other dental personnel in a professional manner.
Ability to perform sterilization procedures according to CDC/OSHA guidelines.
Knowledge of dental clinic supplies, ordering, and organizing.
Ability to work independently.
Experience working with Dentrix.
Administrative skills.
Experience with dental patient management software – including maintaining patient records/files.

Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.

Academic Year Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Summer Hours: Monday, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
