What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking an Intelligence and Counterintelligence Professional to join our dynamic and exciting Publications and Tradecraft team. The selected candidate will help implement analytic tradecraft requirements, procedures, and methodologies for DOE- and OGA-sponsored analytic products.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Work within a team of high-functioning tradecraft analysts to conceptualize, develop, and ensure delivery of impactful analytic products (e.g. documents and briefings) for sponsors in accordance with Intelligence Community protocols, tradecraft, and standards.
  • Create and implement tailored production process workflows to ensure analytic quality, and coordinate with IC Services team to ensure efficient publication timelines.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on analytic tradecraft to management and technical staff by providing mentorship, advice, and training on best practices for tradecraft, quality control, peer review, and accessing all-source intelligence information.
  • Coordinate with technical and business teams to provide status and tracking of deliverables for internal management and sponsors.
  • Perform tradecraft reviews under tight deadlines to ensure clarity of message, high writing quality, and focused purpose across a full range of analytic products.
  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service and cultivate trust-based professional relationships throughout Sandia and with sponsors.
  • Gradually, develop a basic understanding of nuclear weapons physics, effects, and subsystems to support peer-review recommendations of technical documents.

Qualified candidates will be asked to provide a writing sample (500 words or more) prior to any scheduled interviews

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range:

$85,100 - $164,100

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus (4) four years¿ experience or;
  • Master's degree in a relevant field
  • Experience in one or more of the following:
  • Communication
  • Journalism
  • English
  • Technical writing
  • Political science
  • STEM fields
  • Active DOE Q or DOD TS clearance
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SCI security clearance, which may require a polygraph test

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Self-starter who is flexible, takes the initiative, and demonstrates a sense of curiosity
  • Familiarity with the workings of government, the Intelligence Community, analytic standards, and associated policies and guidelines (ICD203)
  • Four (4) or more years related experience within the intelligence community
  • Willingness to serve in both support and leadership roles
  • Excellent critical thinking, English grammar, syntax, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service and cultivate trust-based professional relationships
  • Proven track record of anticipating issues, managing competing priorities, and implementing effective solutions to meet timelines and deliverables
  • Success working in an integrated team environment with different technical skill sets and working styles
  • Demonstrated success in mentoring and developing skills in less experienced staff, providing guidance and support to enhance their professional growth and performance

About Our Team:

The primary mission of Departments 5921, 5922, 5923, and 5924 is to assess the threats posed to US national security interests by foreign advanced weapons capabilities, especially nuclear weapons. Our analyses inform policymakers and senior officials across the US government responsible for understanding the threats and risks posed by these weapons. This high impact program area is steadily growing, and exciting opportunities to conduct all-source intelligence analysis, computational modeling, and engineering studies are available for you.

Posting Duration:

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance.
