Job Description

The Freeman Lab at Dana-Farber/Harvard Medical School is seeking an experienced and motivated research technician to assist with translational immunology research developing new methods of modulating the activity of T-cells for the treatment of human disease.

The Freeman Lab is known for its fundamental contributions to the field of checkpoint inhibitor therapy, including the discovery of PD-L1 and its interaction with PD-1 and that blockade of the PD-L1/PD-1 pathway enhanced immune responses and could be used for cancer immunotherapy. The successful applicant will join a vibrant research team investigating novel bispecific antibodies that have the potential for use as therapeutics for cancer and autoimmune conditions. Work will involve cell culture, multicolor flow cytometry, and in vivo studies in mice.

  • Examination of animals, routinely monitoring tumor growth and other metrics of therapeutic efficacy.
  • Isolate and prepare specimens for examination: blood, mouse tissue, cell lines and primary cells for sorting and flow cytometry analysis.
  • Maintain cell lines and primary cells in tissue culture.
  • Perform various experimental techniques such as flow cytometry, immunoblotting, immunohistochemistry, RNA-extraction, ELISA, real-time PCR, molecular biology (cloning, mutagenesis), surface plasmon resonance, and protein purification.
  • Maintain detailed laboratory records, analyze data, and report experimental results.
  • Assist with lab management, including ordering, maintaining laboratory equipment, and preparing reagents and solutions.

No supervisory responsibilities. Normally receives detailed instructions on all work.

  • A BA/BS or equivalent in Biology or related field is required
  • Knowledge of information and techniques related to either biology, chemistry, or medicine is preferred.
  • Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and be able to work with a wide variety of faculty and staff.
  • Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work-related issues and problems.
  • Must have attention to detail and be thorough in completing work tasks.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
