Position Summary

The Clinical Practice Education Specialist (CPES) is a Registered Nurse who has acquired advanced, in-depth knowledge and expertise. The CPES functions as a nurse educator and clinical expert. In addition, the CPES will function as a clinician, consultant, leader and researcher.

The Clinical Practice Education Specialist for the Operating Room (OR) is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs to enhance the clinical competencies of perioperative staff. This role collaborates with nursing leadership, surgeons, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure evidence-based practices and high-quality patient care.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Clinical Expertise: Models excellence in oncology nursing practice, ensuring staff competence and promoting state-of-the-art, patient-centered care.
  • Education & Training: Designs, implements, and evaluates educational programs for nurses, patients, and families, aligning with institutional and regulatory standards.
  • Consultation & Mentorship: Serves as a clinical resource, guiding nursing staff, mentoring professionals, and supporting competency development.
  • Research & Quality Improvement: Identifies practice gaps, integrates evidence-based practices, and participates in research and quality initiatives.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Drives innovation, facilitates change, and fosters an inclusive, learning-focused environment within the organization.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing
  • Current California RN license
  • Minimum of three (3) years oncology experience or applicable experience in area of specialty
  • Minimum of one (1) year in education (preferred)
  • Specialty Nursing Certification, CNOR (preferred)
  • Salary - Min-Mid-Max - $68.19-$88.65-$109.11/hr (Exempt position)
