Candidates should hold a Ph.D. or be ABD (All-But-Dissertation) in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field, with at least 18 graduate-level credit hours in these disciplines. Candidates must also have teaching or industry experience, demonstrated research interests, and ongoing or planned publications relevant to the field.

ABD candidates may begin at the instructor rank and salary, with the potential to advance to Assistant Professor upon completion of the Ph.D. within one year of the official start date at UNC Pembroke.

Candidates must have expertise in Cybersecurity and at least one additional area from the following fields: system integration, object-oriented programming, operating systems, networking, digital logic, data science, or machine learning.

Job Description
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of North Carolina Pembroke invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning Fall 2025. We seek candidates with a specialization in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or Information Technology.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of courses across Cybersecurity, IT, and CS; advising and mentoring students; engaging in research and scholarly activities; publishing research findings; pursuing external funding; and contributing to professional service. Additionally, they will support service efforts within the department, college, university, and broader community.

Qualified candidates should be prepared to teach at least three of the following courses, including those in cybersecurity: System Integration, Object-Oriented Programming, Operating Systems, Networking, Digital Logic, Data Science, Machine Learning, Cybersecurity Management, Digital Forensics, AI in Cybersecurity, and Cloud Security. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to design course materials aligned with CAE-CD and ABET accreditation standards, participate actively in learning outcomes assessment, and contribute to organizing activities for student clubs.

Effective communication skills—both spoken and written—are essential. Salary and rank will be commensurate with education and relevant experience.
