Job Description

TGen, the Translational Genomics Research Institute, is part of City of Hope. We are an Arizona-based, nonprofit medical research institute dedicated to conducting groundbreaking research with life-changing results. This particular job listing is for a position embedded within the Huentelman Lab. It requires extensive travel with another team member in a mobile neuroscience laboratory (the “mobile lab”), enrolling participants from all around Arizona. Approximately 20 weeks will be spent away from home each year.

In the Huentelman Lab, our team studies the genetic basis of neurological disease. We have projects that focus on children and adults. We make use of various types of genomics-based approaches including arrays, sequencing, single-cell analyses, and spatial-based molecular profiling. We publish frequently, we submit lots of grant applications, we go to scientific conferences together, we try to make a daily difference in our patient’s lives… in short, there is ample opportunity to learn and train in our lab environment. We are milestone-driven. Every team member has an equal voice in experimental design and interpretation of results. We try our best to function as a cohesive team and, even though our work is challenging, we manage to have a fun time doing it.
