Job Description
Due to an internal promotion to the International Commercial Office, we now have an exciting vacancy within the Commercial Portfolio Therapy Area. The role of the Established Brands Portfolio Lead will be to manage a strong portfolio of critical brands that continue to deliver value to the NHS and Pfizer. This opportunity will give the successful candidate a deeper understanding of portfolio level P&L, as well as leveraging a wide range of key stakeholders across the business and the NHS.
As a member of the Established Brands Leadership team, seen as a subject matter expert and reporting to the Head of Established Brands this role is responsible for:
- Managing and driving appropriate growth for our complex Established Brands portfolio – including critical, branded, generic launch products and generic LOE products.
- Management and mitigation out of stock implementation plans for the Established Brands portfolio through Anchor in Trust partnerships. Leading the key XFT stakeholders & colleagues from PGS, Commercial Customer & Contracts, Regulatory, Quality and Medical, as necessary.
- Working closely with Commercial Performance Manager and Commercial Procurement managers to identify and deliver effective pricing strategies at a Brand level
- Planning and development of innovative solutions and implement best in class strategic and operational brand(s) plans for the UK to deliver the revenue expectation and OPEX commitments.
- Accountability for making capital allocation decisions across the portfolio to maximise overall growth and profitability against agreed return on investment targets.
Responsibilities
Best in class Strategy Development & Tactical Execution
- This role has accountability for achieving UK sales targets for a portfolio of established brands, through working with key internal and external stakeholders to deliver strong insight-based strategies to maximise revenues and margin for the entire portfolio.
- Embrace uncertainty to become the market expert with detailed understanding of environment, competitors and customer needs to inform the overall country plan and revenue / budget and product forecasting. Drive customer/commercial operational excellence at country level and bring customer/commercial insight into Therapy Area to influence and shape the strategy.
- Identify and utilise relevant OnePfizer resources to deliver a customer centric journey.
- Support Op Plan development and lead the flawless implementation of it and ensure strong execution of our commercial strategy in country through implementation of key programs and strategies to deliver maximum revenue and margin.
Driving Innovation
- Challenge convention to take appropriate risks to identify opportunities to experiment with new approaches responding to business challenges based on customer needs and rapidly share best practise and scale capabilities that are proven to impact reach and engagement.
- Develop Brand plans that are high on value but low on cost and content .
Team Leadership
- Anchor in Trust relationships with all relevant internal stakeholders in country (e.g. Commercial Portfolio Lead, Head of Established Brands, Commercial Customer & Strategy director, Established Brands Team, Medical, Demand Managers, PGS, SOMCET, TACT team, Commercial Tenders and Contracts Director, Finance, Legal, Regulatory, Global,).
- Become the Branch champion to ensure strong engagement of customers and stakeholders across the supply chain.
Financial Planning
- Accountable for the planning, spending & controlling of budgets agreed for own areas of responsibility, developing regular forecast updates to aid financial planning. Manage/prioritize resources across customers in line with UK strategy and in dialogue with customer facing functions
- Application of UK financial systems/processes
- Accuracy and timely support of Op Plan, LRF and LE forecast submissions
Business Leadership
- Leads the development and delivery of a portfolio plan for an agreed range of Established brands; annual revenue c.£40m p.a.
- Lead the development and delivery of customer engagement plan for an agreed Channel; Either Retail, NHS Hospital or Private Hospital.
- Responsible for the development of marketing plans and national tender strategy for managed portfolio to increase/strengthen business by gathering and disseminating up-to-date market intelligence.
- Lead without Authority across numerous Pfizer stakeholders in order to achieve budget number and growth opportunities
- Manage all relevant internal processes for the Established Brands Portfolio such as Demand Planning, Reg 21, GCMA, RMM, RMPS, external reporting to government bodies and champion and implement new concepts to improve work processes
- Develop and support the implementation of customer programs and MCC campaigns ensuring full compliance.
- Ensure insights gained from customers, through field force and other routes, are collated, analysed and built upon to ensure customer centricity/ patients first/ reputation/ insights.
Stakeholder engagement:
- Own the UK relationship with Global and International Commercial Office colleagues.
- Lead the Glocal working to develop UK Multisource strategy
- Identify, build and develop a network of allocated key customer contacts and opinion leaders to facilitate the flow of information, identify commercial opportunities, achieve endorsement and/or influence opinion of Pfizer and Commercial Portfolio through effective leadership.
- Develop and manage constructive key relationships with identified customer groups e.g. National Procurement Leaders, Government bodies (MPSC/DHSC), Retail Groups, Private Hospital groups, relevant Patient groups and others as part of agreed engagement plans and to build on Pfizer reputation
- Support and collaborate with Commercial Portfolio LT in order to lead on strategic and operational direction of Established Brands portfolio to ensure that customer value is demonstrated, and commercial opportunities maximized in tenders.
Qualifications
- University degree in science, life sciences or business; graduate studies in management is an asset
- Demonstrated track record of high performance and producing outstanding results within brand/commercial marketing.
- Strong cross-functional working skills and able to deliver stretching results through others in matrix complex working situations
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical industry and healthcare environment
- Strong strategic skills including creativity and effectiveness in identifying major strategic challenges (e.g. new competition, shifting market environment) and the ability to balance short term needs and long-term vision
- Well organized with ability to be flexible, prioritize multiple demands and effectively perform under tight timelines.
- Proven ability to perform effectively in a complex, changing environment, and the professional maturity to deal with ambiguity
- Strong interpersonal skills as well as excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong cross-functional working skills and able to deliver stretching results through others in matrix complex working situations
- Proven ability to influence others without authority
- Proven ability to analyse and define and convey complex concepts and strategies in verbal and written communication to demanding audiences (internal and external).
