Job Description
Manage the Enterprise Information Systems Services department associates providing distributed applications services, database administration, data administration and reporting, ERP support, and support for systems integrated with the ERP. Work closely with the Associate Vice President/Chief Enterprise Architect to ensure effective design and implementation of new technology and achievement of business process improvements. Utilize the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) as needed for project management support. Provide support and resources to Information Technology senior management team members as requested.
Ball State is seeking to fill the Director of Enterprise Information Systems position. This position is responsible for working with a talented team of database administrators, system integrators, applications specialists, and developers responsible for keeping the enterprise systems running smoothly. The successful candidate will be able to coordinate the resources necessary supporting multiple projects at a time, set goals for the staff, and work with constituents across campus to deliver the highest levels of service for the systems that support Ball State. Job Function:

Utilize the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) as needed for project management support. Provide support and resources to Information Technology senior management team members as requested.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Preferred Education:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technology-related field.
Minimum Experience:
At least five years of experience managing RDBMS with at least three years managing complex Oracle or SQL Server systems. At least two years of supervisory or project management experience.
Preferred Experience:
Expert SQL skills; experience with efficiently coding packages and procedures; expertise in backup/recovery and best practices for resilient systems, and a thorough understanding of RDBMS fundamentals; at least three years of experience with managing enterprise systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction to the teams responsible for system integrations among all enterprise solutions and systems; provide application support, database administration, data administration and reporting.
- Meet with functional units to define projects; discuss work progress and problem resolution; ensure the strategic goal of implementing comprehensive and integrated information/communication systems are met. Evaluate existing business processes and apply automation in an effort to reduce manual processes and increase data consistency.
- Meet with university constituents to discuss and explore system solutions, computing capabilities, and opportunities. Ensure university clients are provided professional, courteous, and timely support and service of ERP systems, Internet/Intranet, desktop and database system solutions.
- Direct implementation and execution of new/updated information systems via well-defined plans including procedures, deadlines, and accountability.
- Work in conjunction with the Enterprise Project Management Office to coordinate and track projects in progress to ensure appropriate productivity.
- Coordinate projects with the Director of Enterprise Information Technology Architecture to ensure cloud-based systems are scaled appropriately, cost effective, and leveraging native delivered cloud services.
- Provide support to Information Technology leadership in developing and administering plans, budgets, policies, practices and procedures in order to achieve efficient and effective operation of the department.
- Lead the team in discovery, research, and prototyping development and system architectures, keeping apprised of new technologies and implementing new solutions. This includes database technologies, integration solutions, and any associated architectures with the goal of becoming more efficient and providing more supportable environments. Collaborate with the Director of Enterprise Information Technology Architecture ensuring implementation of solutions follow industry standards to promote a more reliable and secure environment.
- Participate in position candidate interviewing and selection, staff member coaching, discipline, performance appraisal, training, and career development.
- Coordinate special projects as requested.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
