Position Location: Biology of Aging Laboratory / Tulane University School of Medicine, 1430 Tulane Avenue, New Orleans LA 70112
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00AM – 5:00PM but can be flexible depending on needs and circumstances
POSITION SUMMARY: A postdoctoral position is available investigating genetic/epigenetic control of cardiac and vascular senescence. We are seeking a postdoc with a strong background in molecular biology, imaging, animal work, and biochemistry. Additional experience with single cell assays and some computational background would be desired but not required. Animal skills with mouse, rat, and pig models would be beneficial. The postdoc will be responsible for projects involving cardiac fibrosis and senescence. Epigenetic regulation of fibrosis will also be a focus. Tasks include experimental design, animal model development, siRNA assays, data interpretation, and manuscript writing. Additionally, pre-planning projects, RNA isolation, quality control, qPCR, protein assays and quantification, Western Blot, cell culture, and immunocytochemistry-based assays will be completed during the course of the project. The postdoc will also assess new technology in this area as it develops and suggest/make protocol improvements.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience and training
Qualifications
A qualified successful candidate should be self-motivated and detail oriented with a strong background in molecular biology, genetics, regeneration, or aging and have clear oral and written communication skills. Preferred applicants would be willing to work with and guide students, generate publications, contribute to grants, and work as a team to help with the day-to-day operations of the lab. Preferred qualifications include prior publications and experience working with primary cell culture and induced pluripotent cell culture.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Doctoral degree (PhD, MD, MD/PhD or equivalent)
