Job Description

Summary

Dr. Fazal is seeking a Bioinformatics Analyst I to develop and apply genomic analysis tools to identify cis- and trans- factors associated with RNA localization. The Fazal lab is a young laboratory focusing on systematically interrogating the subcellular transcriptomes of mammalian cells and characterizing the scope, regulation, and function of subcellular localization, particularly at the systems and organismal level. We use a variety of biochemical, biophysical, imaging, genomic and computational approaches to investigate the sequence-function relationship dictating RNA localization.

Job Duties

  • Under the general direction of the principal investigator, this person will be responsible for the following:
  • Running and validating RNA-seq/CLIP-seq pipelines.
  • Downloading and analyzing publicly-available genomic datasets.
  • Writing custom scripts to perform desired tasks.
  • Reviewing existing variation and proposing improvements.
  • Using various computational analyses and biological interpretation of results to review existing data and propose improvements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Genetics, Biology, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • One years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
