Job Description

Summary

The Program in Population and Environmental Health Disparities https://www.bcm.edu/academic-centers/precision-environmental-health/research/program-in-population-and-environmental-health-disparities is recruiting a statistician to contribute to ongoing projects investigating the impact of chemical and non-chemical stressors on health, particularly among vulnerable populations.  The individual will clean and interrogate complex data sets and apply statistical methods that evaluate health risks of environmental mixtures, evaluate sensitive windows of exposure for adverse perinatal and child health outcomes, develop air quality prediction models, and conduct temporal-spatial health effects analyses using air pollution modeled results.

Job Duties

  • Plans and conducts statistical analyses for epidemiologic analyses.
  • Applies approaches for addressing multi-level and highly correlated data.
  • Process geospatial data (e.g., land use) for air pollution predictive models.
  • Summarizes results and interprets findings in the context of the literature.
  • Conducts literature searches, prepares evidence tables, and provides summaries of existing knowledge and gaps.
  • Provides regular updates of study progress and articulates problems and possible solutions to program faculty.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Statistics, Biostatistics or a  related field.
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years of relevant experience in environmental health research.
  • Experience programming and conducting analyses in SAS and R is required.
  • Experience in processing geospatial data and/or in applying machine learning to environmental health data is a plus.
  • Four years of relevant experience.
