Job Description

Summary

The Department of Psychiatry is recruiting Full Time Position will provide assessment and therapy services to patients with mental health and substance use problems at community health clinics of Harris Health System.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to work collaboratively on a multidisciplinary team, excellent organizational and time management skills, excellent written and spoken communication skills, working knowledge of client/community resources and experience in
developing relationships with same.  Will also have the ability to work independently, have computer skills--Microsoft Word, Excel and EPIC (electronic medical records), and is bilingual in English/Spanish.

This position is has the opportunity to work on site and remotely.  On sited work will be located in two different clinics.  The schedule for these clinics are as follows:
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday - Casa de Amigos Harris Health 1615 Main St. Houston, 77009
Monday and Friday - El Franco Lee 8901 Boone Rd Houston, TX 77099

Job Duties

  • Provides assessment for behavioral health problems for patients referred by health care providers at community clinics, elective appointments or
  • walk-ins of patients in crisis or with urgent needs.
  • Develops treatment plans for patients to address their mental health and substance use problems.
  • Provides therapeutic interventions of individual, group and family therapy for mental health and substance use problems.
  • Liaisons with physicians, nurses, and psychiatry staff regarding patient care and treatment.
  • Completes required documentation and statistical reporting in a timely manner.
  • Provides curbside consultations to the primary care team.
  • Accommodates walk-in patients in crisis or with urgent needs.
  • Attend center staff meetings as required.
  • Attends CBHP faculty meetings.
  • Attends training classes or orientations as required by Harris Health Hosptial System or Baylor College of Medicine.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience.
  • Licensure as a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW),  LCSW-S, or LPC-S.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in diagnosing mental health and substance use disorders according to DSM V Diagnostic Criteria.
  • Experience in treating mental health disorders.
  • Experience providing individual, group, crisis and family counseling.
  • Familiarity with and experience in referring patients to substance abuse and crisis treatment facilities.
