As a Lead Radiology Technologist, you will perform radiology exams and procedures on patients of all ages. Your primary duties will include but are not limited to:  

  • Performing general radiology, portable, and fluoroscopic procedures.  

  • Assisting with scheduling patient procedures.  

  • Educating patients regarding the procedures, equipment, and examination to ensure comfort and understanding.  

  • Assisting with instrument calibration and records to ensure compliance with quality assurance requirements.

  •  Ensuring quality assurance tests are performed daily/weekly and all policies and procedures are adhered to.

  

The ideal future caregiver is someone who:  

  • Currently is a Registered Technologist by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT).  

  • Currently has a Basic Life Support certificate.  

  • Demonstrates effective communication skills.  

  • Has knowledge of human anatomy.  

  • Functions well under minimal supervision and in stressful situations.

Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the Clinical Manager, supervises and coordinates work activities of assigned personnel.
  • Schedules work assignments and prepares master schedule.
  • May perform payroll time sheet for employees.
  • Trains, counsels, disciplines, and evaluates performance of employees.
  • Assists with interviewing applicants and recommends selection.
  • Maintains procedure manual and communicates changes to staff.
  • Assists with all policies and procedures required by local, state, or federal law.
  • Assists with compliance or credentialing bodies (ACR, MQSA, Medicare, Medicaid, FDA, etc.).
  • Instructs other area personnel in Radiation Protection, as needed, and ensures their safety.
  • Performs general radiology, portable, and fluoroscopic procedures (GIs, GUs, pediatrics, arthrograms, spine center).
  • Produces images of optimal quality for interpretation with accuracy and without delay.
  • Maintains documentation requirements to ensure that all technical data is entered timely and accurately.
  • Educates patients regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Ensure patients' comfort and safety during and after the exam. May assist with scheduling of patients as needed.
  • Demonstrates the care and operation of Radiology equipment according to technical specifications and applications.
  • Notifies management and takes proper action to address equipment malfunctions.
  • Assists Radiologist with fluoroscopic, GU, GI, and pediatric procedures.
  • Monitors all appointments scheduled for examinations; performs preliminary research on patient when preparations are not provided; determines priority of patients based on the daily schedules.
  • Knowledgeable in acquiring, archiving, transmitting, and printing images via PACS, when applicable, knowledgeable in after hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork - immediately reports any malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator.
  • Knowledgeable in billing via RIS.
  • Ensures exam rooms are adequately supplied with linen and related medical supplies.
  • Participates in on-going training of technologists and students.
  • Provides orientation of new employees and in-service education.
  • Provides technical assistance to physicians, technologist and students.
  • Reviews processed films/scans to determine quality and need for additional images.
  • Continually strives to learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.
  • May be required to rotate through all diagnostic imaging modalities, sites and/or locations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology

Certifications:

  • Must be a Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT), in good standing.
  • Current state licensure (RL) required prior to employment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years recent modality experience.
  • Ability to direct, evaluate and supervise others.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
