Position Highlights

The Chief Compliance Officer ("CCO") of H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute, Inc. ("Center") provides business leadership and vision for the strategic planning and management of a comprehensive healthcare compliance program in support of the mission and strategic goals of the Center. The CCO establishes and oversees an effective healthcare compliance program intended to prevent, detect and deter illegal, unethical or improper conduct. The CCO leads the independent review and evaluation efforts to ensure that compliance issues/concerns within the organization are appropriately evaluated, investigated and resolved. The CCO is responsible for hiring and developing a high performing compliance team and building an infrastructure serving the compliance needs of a NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center. The CCO acts as an advisor to the CEO and Board of Directors by monitoring and reporting results of the compliance efforts of the Center and in providing guidance on compliance matters. This position is responsible for the core compliance areas of Billing Integrity, Research Financial Compliance, Research Compliance, Conflict of Interest, International Compliance and Privacy Compliance.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Leads the development, implementation and effectiveness of the Center's Compliance Program.

 

  • Development, Revision and Maintenance of Compliance Program Documentation and Required Components.

 

  • Establishes and maintains an effective compliance reporting and communication program. 

 

  • Consistent enforcement of compliance violations.

 

  • Leads/directs critical compliance investigations and projects under strict confidentiality.

 

  • Records Retention & Disposition.

 

  • Policy Management

 

Credentials and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health Care Administration, Law, Business or related field.

 

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of health care compliance, research or health care consulting experience, with progressive responsibility and ten (10) years in a manager/leadership role. A minimum of five (5) years of experience leading a corporate compliance program.

 

  • Compliance certification (Certified in Health Care Compliance, Certified in Health Care Research Compliance, Certified in Health Care Privacy Compliance, or Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional) required.

 

  • Thorough knowledge of health care compliance regulations and requirements in an academic medical center setting.

 

  • Experience leading high profile, confidential, complex compliance investigations.

 

  • Demonstrated track record of serving in increasingly responsible compliance positions and working collaboratively and effectively with diverse stakeholders.

 

  • Demonstrated experience with MS Office and Compliance GRC software applications.

 

  • Superior verbal, written, presentation, diplomatic, and conflict resolution skills
