What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking an Electromechanical Technologist to join our team organization 7581 is home to the Neutron Generator Monitor (NGM) PRT responsible for design, development, and sustainment of NGM, controlatron, Pb Probe, PND and YAP detectors. This suite of components plays an integral role in the evaluation of the Neutron Generators throughout the NG lifecycle.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Support new builds of design concepts in the NGM lab.
  • Develop process and process documentation in support of realization efforts.
  • Support research for the development of innovative design concepts.
  • Sustain and maintain current laboratory capabilities.
  • Assess and scope new capabilities in support of realization efforts.
  • Work both individually and with a coordinated team on projects.
  • Able to team with Principal Investigators and other staff and technologists to set-up and perform standardized and non-standardized testing, diagnostic application, data acquisition, and reporting of results.
  • Operate in a very meticulous, detailed environment, worker health and safety, and safeguards and security.
  • Demonstrated time management and excellent communication skills.

Due to the nature of work, successful candidate must be able to work onsite.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Associate’s degree in STEM or equivalent experience
  • Active DOE Q-level security clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Willing to work hands-on in a laboratory environment.
  • Ability to collaborate in diverse team environments, engineers and technologist, to address test facility needs.
  • Experience with equipment specifications and assessing fit of equipment to support new capabilities
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical system including basic assembly and wiring
  • Experience documenting work including laboratory notes and data.
  • Experience with developing and/or maintaining Work Planning and Controls including Standard Operating Procedures, Security Plans, and Checklists.
  • Demonstrated experience interfacing with support staff such as facilities personnel and ES&H resources.

About Our Team:

The Monitor Integration and SWTB Component Engineering Department (2581) Provides design, development, transition to production, production (for WETL) and analysis of surveillance data for Neutron Generator Monitors for JTA and WETL and associated calibration systems (Controlatrons, x-ray sources, Pb probe)

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD).
