What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a skilled microelectronics test engineer to lead wafer-level electrical parameter testing of process control monitors (PCMs). You will operate and maintain automated semiconductor wafer test equipment (ATE, for example TEL probers and Keysight testers), run production lot qualification tests, verify results using semiconductor parameter analyzers (SPAs) and source measurement units (SMUs), analyze and interpret test data, disposition wafers for delivery, report and communicate test results to fab engineers and management for lot-problem statements, and document test results using automated factory flow systems (for example, Factory Works).

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Daily measuring on-wafer the electrical current-voltage parameters of resistors, diodes, capacitors, and Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor (MOS) transistors.
  • Verifying, reviewing, and interpreting test data to ensure test results are correct.
  • Reporting test results to engineers and managers and working with teams to resolve lot-problems.
  • Setting up ATE prober and test files for new products.
  • Maintaining and repairing probe cards and production equipment and ensuring current calibration certifications.
  • Reviewing wafer acceptance reports, analyzing test data trends using standard tools (such as JMP), and moving production lots based on pass/fail criteria.
  • Investigating parameter failures, verifying electrical results using bench electrical measuring equipment such as source-measurement units and semiconductor parameter analyzers, and documenting lot-problem reports.
  • Communicating with team members, managing area inventory, and maintaining production schedule.
  • Developing and performing new tests to assist with yield improvement work.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or relevant field or equivalent combination of relevant education and directly related experience.
  • Experience executing voltage-current measurements for sub-micron sized resistors, capacitors, diodes, and metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) transistors
  • Experience with data analytical and statistical methods
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Excellent written and oral technical-information communication skills
  • Ability to work in a clean room environment
  • Demonstrated experience with wafer-level electrical measurements of voltage and current curves for microelectronic devices
  • CMOS device characterization
  • Familiarity with:
  • Manual probe station microelectronics testing using source-measurement units and semiconductor parameter analyzers
  • Automated test equipment for semiconductor wafer testing
  • C-like programming languages and unix-like systems
  • Python or JMP data analysis software

About Our Team:

The Microsystems Engineering, Sciences and Applications center at Sandia National Laboratories is the nation’s largest government-owned integrated circuit manufacturing center. Our products are key to ensuring reliable, trusted, and radiation hardened national security systems are safe, secure, agile, and effective. Department 5252 leads the technology development and integration for CMOS products in MESA.

Posting Duration:

This posting will be open for application submissions for a minimum of seven (7) calendar days, including the ‘posting date’. Sandia reserves the right to extend the posting date at any time.

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.

EEO:

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status and any other protected class under state or federal law.

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
