What You Will Achieve
You will be a key part of the McPherson Operations group which delivers science-based solutions every day. In this role, the primary function is to manufacture bulk medicine for downstream filling and provide expertise to implement the solutions for technical problems under moderate supervision in a structured environment. You will develop knowledge of drug products and pharmaceutical processes and implement process improvements in conjunction with manufacturing operations.
This position specifically involves manufacturing of bulk product solution, while supporting related component qualifications, supplier change notifications, component specification development, evaluating new and innovative technologies, developing/improving processes for new and existing products. You will serve a technical representative for primary components used at the facility. You will work in a team environment to provide day-to-day plant technical support, data driven problem solving, and participating in processing engineering activities. You will assist with investigation of production process problems.
How You Will Achieve It
- Manufacture of bulk product solution
- Contribute to the completion of projects, manage own time to meet agreed upon targets and develop plans for activities on projects
- Lead process improvements, collect data to justify recommendations for improvements in production processes and collaborate with technical staff to implement process technology initiatives
- Support investigations to determine root cause and implement appropriate corrective and preventive actions
- Proposes process improvement opportunities and/or corrective actions to increase yield, maximize capacity, reduce costs and decrease process variability
- Develop process flow diagrams for illustrating critical process and material flow
- Executes engineering trials, author technical reports summarizing results to support component qualifications, product impact assessments and investigations
- Analyze, apply, and interpret information and identify cause and effect relationships
- Evaluate new materials and primary packaging components
Qualifications
Must-Have
- Bachelor’s Degree with 0+ years of experience OR Associates degree with 4 years of relevant experience OR High School Diploma (or Equivalent) and 6 years of relevant experience
- Must possess excellent communication skills and attention to details
- Demonstrated problem solving capabilities
- Ability to get tasks accomplished and manage priorities while working in high pressure situations with aggressive time constraints
- Competency in PC software such as MS Word, Excel and Project
- Basic Project management skills
- Self-starter with the ability to work with moderate supervision
Nice-to-Have
- Chemical Engineering field of study
- Demonstrated experience in a relevant manufacturing environment
- Knowledge and experience with Drug Product processing and equipment
- Exposure to global regulations on devices, drugs, validation/qualification requirements
- Knowledge of statistical software such as Minitab or JMP is desirable
- Knowledge of Six Sigma and Statistical Analysis principles
- Experience with data analysis and technical report writing

- Ability to analyze data from detailed schedule and risk management tools
- Interface effectively with multiple stakeholder groups
Non-Standard Work Schedule, Travel, or Environment Requirements
- The McPherson Site is a 24/7 operation. This role is a 12-hour night shift role, 6pm - 6am on a rotating 2/2/3 schedule. Every other weekend work is required as part of this schedule.
