Job Description

Position Highlights

  • The HIM Record Imaging Specialist is responsible for the day to day tasks related to the processing of the electronic health information to include but not limited to the following:
    • Chart pick-up through-out the hospital by transporting the collected documents in a secure manner to the scanning area while complying with HIPAA.
    • Prepping, scanning, quality controlling and accurately indexing the documents to the correct patient and folder within the electronic medical records.
  • The HIM Record Imaging Specialist will require interpersonal communication skills as well as organizational skills to obtain any medical records information needed in order to resolve any incorrect or incomplete documentation.
  • The HIM Record Imaging Specialist maintains strict confidentiality of the patient, physician and other information. The employee without exception, must be HIPAA compliant and meet federal and state laws. Demonstrates competency by successfully meeting established scanning metrics.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • The ideal candidate will have experience in a healthcare environment with direct interaction with patients and/or their families.
  • The candidate will also have experience working in a Health Information Management/Medical Records dept.

 

Responsibilities:

  • The employee will utilize a cart with a locked bag to retrieve the documents from all assigned areas complying with the centers HIPAA compliance regulations.
  • The employee verifies that all documents contain the correct patient information. Documents are labels properly for indexing.
  • The employee verifies that the selected account matches the patient name, DOB, and correct fin utilized for that visit.

Credentials and Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience working in a Health Information Management environment, having direct interaction with healthcare providers, patients and/or their families.
  • Experience in scanning & chart analysis with Cerner software, and Kofax (batch manager)scanning software.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology to accurately review/process medical records.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Windows 10, Excel and have computer skills.
