Job Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Equipment Systems Specialist, competency level 2, position for the Academic Technologies department at Oregon State University (OSU).

Information Security: Proactively securing and protecting OSU’s digital assets and information systems is crucial to our missions of teaching and learning, research, and extension and engagement. All OSU IT professionals are directly responsible for providing high-quality and secure IT systems and services. Persons in technology roles are expected to be responsive to security-related actions and requirements and to collaboratively find secure ways to support the OSU community.

This position is in the Academic Technologies which is part of the Technical and Solutions Architecture (TSA) unit within Oregon State University’s University Information & (UIT) division, this position shares and supports the University’s mission by assisting the University to extend all programs, teachings, research, and communication throughout the world. The services provided by UIT-TSA units, including Academic Technologies, Administrative Technologies, Infrastructure, Digital Experience, Digital Research, and Network & Telecom Services, assist the University community by facilitating transmission of knowledge and expertise to its members, thereby enhancing their ability to be productive, valued, and esteemed members of the University community, serving the State of Oregon. Services are provided to students, faculty, and staff for curricular, research, intellectual, and administrative activities and needs, as well as to the wider Oregon higher education and government community. There are approximately 175 faculty and classified employees in UIT, as well as 150 FTE student positions. UIT administers a total budget of $35+ million.

This position functions within a team-based environment supporting clients of Academic Technologies. It is a full-time position in the Technical Services (TS) Department within Academic Technologies (AT), a unit within the Technical and Solutions Architecture (TSA) division of University Information and Technology (UIT). The Equipment Systems Specialist II provides assistance in the maintenance and upkeep of technical systems within client’s venues.

Academic Technologies provides university-wide services in space design, build and support, media production and distribution, and faculty, staff and student support and development in learning technologies. Knowledge and experience with presentation systems, control systems, digital audio processors (DSP), AVoIP transports including but limited to: audio/video bridging (AVB), DANTE, NDI, SRT and other UDP & TCP/IP protocols for system configurations/communications. This position works closely with other ESS and IT staff to develop and support information technology including networked devices, computer maintenance and support, and control systems to maintain systems integrity and reliability.

What We Require
This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills of equipment and systems that would normally be obtained through an associate of arts degree in electronics or industrial technology, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or directly related experience.

What You Will Need
Two years demonstrated experience in audio/video equipment support, setup and integration is required.
This position must possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record while serving in the position; therefore, the incumbent must provide a copy of their driving history for the past 2 years from the issuing state’s Dept. of Motor Vehicles.
Experience with AV control systems, digital audio processors and TCP/IP protocols with AV over IP.
A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.

This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months
What We Would Like You to Have
Associate degree in information technology, engineering, communication, education, or related field.
3-5 years directly related experience.
Experience working in a higher education environment.
Experience working in a broadcast environment.
Oregon Limited Energy Technician Electrician License (Class B).
InfoComm (AVIXA) CTS certification.
