The Opportunity:
Under general supervision, oversees the purchase, installation, and support of network communications, including LAN systems. Primarily responsible for all aspects of switch hardware from core to network edge, including documentation, monitoring, troubleshooting and change control. Performs network design, budgeting, system installation, system administration, and system security. Designs and programs network equipment and integrates with all university enterprise systems.

Responsibilities:
Provide an advanced level of network design, installation and troubleshooting for the University's enterprise and residential networks. Must be able to solve complex networking issues through physical and logical investigation.
Design, document, estimate, configure and install complex network typologies. Ability to complete tasks on LAN, Wireless Access Points, and PDU/UPS configurations.
Work within a Telecom Enterprise Management software application (ServiceNow and Pinnacle) to receive, document, respond and record various trouble tickets and service requests.
Work directly with manufacturer escalation services (Cisco and Extreme TAC), process RMA's and communicate effectively with UCF IT Telecommunications management and UCF customers.
Provide mentoring and networking instruction to other members of the Technical Operations Team and assist other team members with tickets, projects, documentation, and escalation.
Utilize network software to effectively monitor overall network health, utilization, potential issues. Based on system information, provide status reports and solutions to current or future network issues.
Leverage automated languages and follow Standard Operating Procedures as determined by the specific sub-group within the department. This includes work-order/ ticket flows, documentation, outage communication and customer interactions.
Attending various seminars, training and conferences related to current or emerging technology. Will be given various opportunities to obtain certifications based on specific training.
Other duties as assigned, which may include temporary supervision of the Technical Operations Team.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 9 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
CCNA or CCNP and 6+ years of experience.
WAN Data Center experience is needed with BGP and OSPF protocols.
Knowledge of IS-IS is preferred. • Having worked in an operational and project-based environment is preferred.
Strong documentation skills are highly preferred.
Wireless Network experience is a plus.
Experience with Cisco Firepower is a plus.
