A Postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Leukemia, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, United States. This position reports to Hussein A. Abbas, M.D., Ph.D. (primary mentor).
The Department of Leukemia Research is seeking a postdoctoral research fellow with immunology/immunotherapy laboratory experience, including T-cell culture, immune suppression, T-cell biology, molecular biology, and cell culture. Experience in working with human immune and tumor cells, animal studies, retrovirus and/or lentiviral generation, molecular cloning, transduction of primary T cells, and flow/mass cytometry is preferred.
The candidate will work in a collaborative laboratory environment that integrates immunogenomics and functional genomics with immunologic validation. We aim to identify targets for adoptive T-cell therapy strategies, including CAR-T and TCR-T, both in vitro and in vivo models with a primary focus on leukemia.
Candidates will learn how to design experiments and perform immunology-based assays, including T-cell stimulation, T-cell expansion, flow cytometry, tissue staining, co-culture assays, etc. The work will be integrated with functional genomics and computational results, allowing multidisciplinary learning. Candidates will work in a team-based science allowing building collaborations.
Candidates should be self-motivated, career-oriented, and capable of troubleshooting immunology, molecular, cellular, and ex vivo studies. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, multiple publications, and strong reference letters are required.
