The Network Operations Manager is a key member of the Infrastructure & Operations team within the Office of Information Technology.
You will lead a team of network engineers, with responsibility for all wired and wireless network operations at the university.
You are skilled at translating IT-risk requirements and business constraints into technical control requirements and specifications.
You utilize metrics to measure performance. You provide regular status and service-level reports to your team and to management.
You embrace product thinking and understand the need to automate and scale digital.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and maintain a program focused on business agility, risks, and requirements.
Apply your broad knowledge of network capabilities to identify growth areas and new/emerging products.
Manage and develop your team with to work cohesively and embrace automation and orchestration.
Provide leadership and coaching, including technical and personal development programs, for each team member.
Team with leadership and IT architects to plan technology investments which introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) capabilities.
Plan and build programmable network infrastructure with orchestration and automation tools. Resolve complex issues and participate in problem and change management programs.
Serve as an active and consistent participant in the network governance processes.
Coordinate, measure, and report on the technical aspects of on-premises and cloud network infrastructure.
Maintain your technical knowledge of network service offerings, trends, and industry best practices.
Ensure audit trails, system logs, and other monitoring data sources are reviewed periodically and follow university policies and requirements.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience and seven (7) years of IT experience with demonstrated in-depth knowledge of IT, strategic and process planning.
Five (5) plus years of people and project management experience.
Experience with orchestration and automation with AI and ML.
An M.B.A. or M.S. in Computer Science is preferred. AWS, Azure, and Juniper certifications are considered valued for this role; having all would be ideal. Proven delivery experience with a complex internal IT structure.
Use of standard office equipment, personal computer, and Microsoft office. General office conditions. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the position security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code. Participates in an on-call rotation for 24×7 continuous system availability. Frequently works off-hours to perform emergency and routine system maintenance.

Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.
