Job-Specific Responsibilities

The Harvard Medical School Teaching and Learning Technology Department is looking for an empathetic, solutions-oriented team player to fill the role of Manager of Learning Design and Technology Adoption. Reporting to the Associate Director for Teaching and Learning Technology Support, this position is part of a focused technology support and delivery team dedicated to help support faculty, staff and student in the effective utilization of technology across Harvard Medical School’s MD, Graduate, Executive, and informal learning programs and departments.

Position Responsibilities:
The successful candidate brings value by consulting with departments to identify the right technology and resources as well as best practices needed to implement training programs not only in IT, but across other areas of the university like Program in Medical Education and faculty development.
• Partners with Faculty Development Leadership, Course Faculty, Staff, and Student Representatives (Ed Reps) to identify challenges and inefficiencies in the effective use teaching and learning technologies, and develops corresponding technology-focused in-person, hybrid, and online training programs and curriculums.
• Evaluates efficacy of training resources available through regular feedback loops and review of program evaluations and surveys.
• Regularly reviews ticket trends and identifies opportunities for increased targeted training resources and live offerings frequency throughout the year.
• Oversees staff in the development and upkeep of online training and documentation resources, and develops overall strategy for knowledge base information architecture and organization in partnership with the Associate Director for Teaching and Learning Technology Support.
• Fosters strong working relationships with key project stakeholders.
• Identifies key areas for improvement for projects and recommends appropriate changes.

Other duties
• Represent the TL&T both within and outside of HMS and the University
• Engage in continuous professional development regarding the scholarship of teaching and learning, best practices of instructional design, and the state of current and emerging learning technologies.

Responsible for effective staff management, including hiring and orientation, training and development, workflow and performance management, and the promotion of an inclusive and innovative work environment
Work at an expert level within a team on most phases of service analysis and consider the business implications of technology applications to the current and future business environment
Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into systems requirements and scoping
Define systems requirements, conduct gap analysis, and identify feasible alternative solutions that meet defined business objectives
Responsible for business transition management to ensure that systems are understood by users
Contribute to budget planning
Contribute to the development of plans and policies for a unit/school
Advise unit/school
Abide by and follow the Harvard University IT technical standards, policies and Code of Conduct

Basic Qualifications

Minimum of five years’ post-secondary education or relevant work experience
Supervisory Experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills

Graduate degree, with preference for work related to policy or teaching and learning
Experience working with faculty in a college/university setting, especially in a teaching team role; Harvard experience a plus
Proven experience delivering high-quality work on tight deadlines
