Job Description

Job-Specific Responsibilities

Primary duties will be routine maintenance and husbandry of drosophila stocks. The employee will help with molecular biology and cell cultural techniques, help with genetic screens using flies as the experimental system. The genetic screens evolve modifier identification alzheimer's related genes as well as genes linked to ALS. The genetic experiments will assume the bulk of the work the employee will complete. Individual will also have the opportunity to help/learn with experiments, especially immunocytochemistry and simple molecular biology tasks.

Basic Qualifications

Two years of laboratory tech experience.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

PI would prefer that the candidate has some experience with drosophila - but those who may have little or no experience with flies can still be considered. Strong organizational skills, meticulous experimental practices, self-motivated, good people skills and good note-taking skills, familiarity with basic computer technologies.
