The Jackson Laboratory, located in Farmington, CT has multiple positions for a Bioinformatics Analyst II. This is not a remote based role.
The Bioinformatics Analyst II conducts research using bioinformatics theory and methods and designs databases and develops algorithms for processing and analyzing genomic or other biological information. Duties and responsibilities include: High Throughput Sequence (HTS) data analysis (DNA Seq, mRNA Seq, ChIP Seq, micro RNA Seq etc), experimental design consulting, data integration, algorithm development, development of sequence analysis tools (bioinformatics programming), evaluation of analytical tools and technology, and delivering training to the research community; performing statistical analysis, algorithm implementation, bioinformatics programming, running programs and packaging and interpreting results for clients; conducting, analyzing, and interpreting quality assurance data; mining bioinformatics databases and interpreting results; performing computational analysis of human and mouse genome data, including identifying genetic variants from sequence data, performing quality assessment of processed data, and finding genetic factors that influence traits; and curating and analyzing transcriptomic and other large phenotype data sets to determine correlated factors under genetic control.
The minimum requirements for the position are a PhD in Bioinformatics, Biology, Genomics, or a related field in the biological sciences. All qualified candidates will have research and/or coursework experience in computational analysis of multi-dimensional complex traits bioinformatics data; performing quality assessment of processed bioinformatics data; gaining an understanding of genetic factors and identifying genetic variants from sequence data that influence traits; and designing and managing mega-byte scale datasets.
RATE OF PAY: Between $62,982 and $96,846/year.
