Job Summary
The University of Michigan, Division of Public Safety and Security (DPSS) serves the community by preparing for, protecting against and responding to a broad range of emergencies that could impact our people, operations and environment. The Security Services Analyst will assist in supporting our 24/7 dispatch center.

Provide a security presence via monitoring of building fire alarms, security and duress alarms, infant protection, access control and other related systems
Proactively monitor security camera systems, enhancing protection to university buildings and grounds from fire, vandalism, trespass, theft and intrusion
May support and assist Dispatch Services Dispatchers by initiating emergency procedures, relaying information from monitoring systems and calls for service to ensure efficient coordination of emergency responses
Provide routine customer service to the community via response to phone, email and web inquiries
May perform social media and intelligence analysis to support the prediction and prevention of risk to the university community including but not limited to receiving and routing requests via computer
Maintain liaison with police, fire and other emergency agencies to assure the safety of students, staff, patients and visitors
Maintain confidentiality in police and/or security matters
Other duties, as assigned
Required Qualifications*
Graduation from high school or an equivalent combination of education and experience
A strong attention to detail
Ability to observe/detect/identify individuals, safety hazards, and criminal elements within virtual patrol areas
Some knowledge of fire, safety and emergency procedures
Ability to remain at a stationary post for a minimum of 8 hours per shift
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Google and basic keyboarding and multi-line telephone skills
Desired Qualifications*
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Prior security related experience
Significant knowledge and/or experience monitoring fire, safety, automation information and security systems
Previous experience working in a university and/or healthcare setting
Knowledge of university policies and procedures
Work Schedule
This position will cover a 40 hour per week schedule. Work schedules may include nights, weekends, afternoons, holidays and occasional unanticipated overtime.
