Job Description

Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL is recruiting for MID REV CYCLE CDI AND IP FACILITY CODING EDUCATOR. For Florida residents and other select states (AL, AZ, AR, FL, GA, ID, IN, IA, KS, LA, MS, MO, MT, NC, OH, OK, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WY) this full-time remote position offers a remote work arrangement

Position Highlights:

The MID REVENUE CYCLE CDI and IP FACILITY CODING EDUCATOR initiates, executes, and manages clinical documentation and coding compliance reviews/audits and projects, e.g., HACs, POA, DRGs associated with acute and oncology care for clinical documentation and inpatient services. Supports compliance monitoring and auditing regarding ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS code sets to clinical documentation specialist and inpatient coders.

 

Provides related on-site support; training and education; application of tools and resources; and action plan development with follow-up to monitor implementation and timely problem resolution. Provides support for the development, deployment and monitoring of documentation to providers, to clinical documentation specialist and inpatient coders. Creates the education and training schedule for new hires in HIM and presented to the Mid Revenue Cycle CDI and IP Facility Sr Coding Educator for approval. Supports and deploys coding policies and procedures, standards, best practice models, and educational materials to clinical documentation specialist and inpatient coders for complete, accurate, consistent, documentation and coding that results in appropriate reimbursement, and data integrity. Experience in research, public speaking, and training.

Credentials and Experience:

RN plus Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of experience with inpatient coding and clinical

documentation improvement. In lieu of registered nurse a foreign physician will be considered.

RN plus Associate's degree in Nursing and additional two (2) years of experience as stated above for a total of six (6) years. In lieu of registered nurse a foreign physician will be considered.

 

Certification:

Any "one" of the following certifications is required upon hire:

  • (CCS) Certified Coding Specialist
  • (RHIT) Reg Health Info Technician
  • (RHIA) Reg Health Info Administrator
  • (CCDS) Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist
  • (CDIP) Certified Document Improvement Practitioner
  • (CIC) Certified Inpatient Coder
  • (CPC) Certified Inpatient Coder
  • (RN) Registered Nurse

Minimum Skills/Specialized Training Required:

  • Expert of International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification ("ICD-10-CM"), International Classification, Tenth Revision, Procedure Coding System ("ICD-10-PCS"), American Healthcare Association ("AHA") coding clinic guidelines, Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Groupers ("MSDRG"), All Patient Refined Diagnosis Related Groupers ("APRDRG"), Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services ("CMS") guidelines, National Center for Healthcare Statistics ("NCHS"), Radiation Oncology Coding Guidance (Coding Strategies, American Society for Radiation Oncology ("ASTRO"), American College of Radiation Oncology ("ACRO"), American Health Information Management Association ("AHIMA") and American Academy of Professional Coders ("AAPC") code of ethics.
  • Experience with automated patient care and coding systems. (Cerner Electronic Health Record, Cerner products OPTUM Professional Computer Assisted Coding ("eCAC"), 3M HDM, Mosaiq, Soarian financial billing system, preferred.)
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner to internal and external customers.
  • Thorough understanding of the effect of data quality on prospective payment, utilization, and reimbursement for multiple medical specialties.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Competence with MS Office software (Word, Excel, Zoom and Outlook).
  • Experience with coding oncology related services.
  • Experience conducting training through Zoom.
